The Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra move to Android 17 across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and the Wi-Fi Tab S11 Ultra also gets it in the US and Canada. Highlights include easier multitasking, DeX improvements and new privacy alerts.
Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9, based on Android 17, to the Galaxy Tab S11 series outside South Korea. Samfrew's catalogue picked up the new builds over the course of November 5, 2026, starting at about 02:30 UTC:
- Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra 5G (SM-X936B): X936BXXU9CZJ7 in 29 CSCs
- Galaxy Tab S11 5G (SM-X736B): X736BXXU9CZJ7 in the same 29 CSCs
- Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra Wi-Fi (SM-X930): X930XXU9CZJ6 in 9 CSCs, including the US, Canada and Europe
Korea got there first: Korean Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra models have had One UI 9 since October 29. The regular Wi-Fi Tab S11 (SM-X730) hasn't received it outside Korea yet.
Samsung's official release notes are out so far for Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Russia, Thailand, the Philippines and several other countries. They date the update November 5, 2026 and list the September 5, 2026 security patch level. That's the same patch level as the tablets' previous update, so this release doesn't move security patches forward. Notes for the remaining countries hadn't been updated at the time of writing. As with every big release, not every tablet will see the update notification on day one.

A major upgrade, not a monthly patch
The Tab S11 series launched in 2025 on Android 16 (One UI 8), so One UI 9 is its first major Android upgrade. The previous builds, X936BXXS9BZI1, X736BXXS9BZI1 and X930XXS9BZI1 from September, were security-only updates on Android 16.
What's new in One UI 9 for tablets
Multitasking built for big screens. Touch and hold the handle at the top of any app and drag down to open it in a window, or drag it to a screen edge to switch to split screen. In Samsung DeX, the menu at the top of a window can move an app to another desktop, and desktop previews now sit at the top of the Recents screen.
Galaxy AI. Now nudge suggestions appear in more places:
- in conversation notifications;
- in a floating button at the bottom right of the screen.
On a large screen, tapping a suggestion opens the result in split-screen view, so you don't leave what you're doing. Two more additions:
- My FanCam follows a person you pick in a video and crops out the rest.
- Interpreter's conversation mode lets you scroll back through the conversation while you're still talking.
More control over the quick panel. You can resize the brightness and volume sliders and the media player, and split the sound mode button off from the volume slider.
Privacy and device protection.
- A blue indicator shows at the top of the screen whenever an app reads your location.
- Holding Volume down and the Side key together, or tapping the power button in the quick panel, locks the tablet and turns off biometrics for the next unlock.
- Now brief warns you about malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions. Apps flagged as malicious or vulnerable can't open until you decide whether to remove them.
- AI privacy alerts warn you when apps access personal data they don't need.
- A new Warranty and care menu in Settings brings warranty details and diagnostic checks into one place.
A redesigned Samsung Health. Expect clearer charts, home-screen cards you can resize and group, quicker logging of meals and mood (including with the camera), zoomable trend charts, a daily heart-health score, cardio load and a new Fitness Index.
Accessibility gains:
- Text spotlight, which shows any tapped text enlarged in its own window;
- Select to speak, which reads out a selected item without turning on TalkBack;
- physical-keyboard shortcuts and better mouse-keys controls;
- TalkBack updates through the Play Store.
Where Bixby is available, you can search, rename, pin and bulk-delete past conversations, and add a Bixby widget to the Home screen. The default Lock screen clock has also been redesigned to match your wallpaper.
How to update
On the tablet, open Settings → Software update → Download and install. Rollout timing can vary by country and carrier.
If you'd rather flash it yourself, use firmware that matches your exact model and CSC. On Samfrew:
Every other CSC is on the SM-X936B, SM-X736B and SM-X930 firmware pages.
